While an MG TD engine is relatively agricultural and simple in design, it still needs to be rebuilt properly for maximum performance and reliability. In keeping with our engine development services, this MG engine was fully reconditioned including re-machining the head and sleeving the block in preparation for new pistons. And while it wasn't strictly a high-performance engine rebuild, many new parts were fitted including pistons, valves, valve springs, valve guides, bearings and gaskets, etc. The engine was basically "blueprinted" to factory specifications.

On the dyno the TD engine made the expected amount of power. The factory rating was 54-hp @ 5,200-rpm and 64 ft-lbs of torque at 2,600-rpm. We noticed that the air cleaner assembly was restricting the top end power by about 5-hp. Overall, this engine is reliable and runs well.
